Pre-Season Information

Dave & Eddie 2nd in the Top Helm SeiresPre-season Information

The sailing season is just beginning. The wind has been unkind due to the vernal equinox, equal day and night time. Some of the hardy sailors have all ready been practicing. Sailing at winter events.

Congratulations to Tony & Sam Woods (Etherow CPSC) for winning the North West Top Helm Award 2007. I’m sure they are ready to win their title again for 2008.

Some of the less hardy sailors have kept their boat nice and cozy in the garage. But it is now time to check your boat is ready for action. If your boat is all ready you will have to check your Combination trailer is up for another year of regattas and Open meetings. Hundred of miles have to be covered to get you through the year. Make sure everything is correct and repaired.

The Start of the season is a Todbrook SC on Saturday 5th April 08. Our Champion Tony Woods who is well qualified for the job will carry out training. Whatever level of sailing you are at this is a must for all Enterprise Sailors.

Sunday 6th April 08 is the start of our North-West Area Top Helm Championship. Again starting at Toddbrook SC. Alison Payne, Kev Law and others from their club will be presenting 3 races with lunch. (Homemade soup is a must made by Alison.)

Two weeks later we are at Winsford Flash SC. Sunday 13th April 08, is round 2 of the Top Helm Series. A great Enterprise lake is Winsford, whatever the weather.

A week later, for the first time we have our under 21 training day Saturday 19th April. This is great way for juniors to learn how to sail an enterprise fast.

Round 3 is at Pilkington SC, near St Helens. Saturday 17th May 08. Another great day is to be had. Make sure you arrive early as there is not too much space in the car park.

Rudyard SC makes up round 4. Sunday 1st June 08. Another great lake to sail on. Always a good turn out. Quite a narrow road to the entrance of the club.

Sunday 8th June 08 at Ainsdale on the Sea provided by West Lancs Yacht Club. There is nothing better than sailing on the sea. If you going to do an Open this year this is the one to do.

Bassenthwaite SC is holding the Enterprise Inland National Championships. Saturday 14th, Sunday 15th June 08. A Great favourite from all the sailors. I wonder if Nick Craig can win this one.

Saturday 28th June 08. National Junior 12 Hour Race. Enterprises and GP14s battle it out for 12 hours and juniors to win the event. Held at Southport SC

Also on Saturday 28th June 08 is Delph SC Enterprise Open Meeting. High up on the Bolton Moors, great scenery, sailing and hospitality.

I’m gonna leave you with the last of our summer events. This is a special one Bassenthwaite SC 2nd – 3rd August 08. Two day Open Meeting and for the remainder of the week is Bass Week. This event is a must. The Enterprise is the largest fleet, from Beginner to Expert.

We have plenty of events in the autumn. The 24 hour race to The November Plate.

Don’t forget to check out all events on the list. In the events page www.enterprisenw.co.uk
